Like most successful companies, RMCinc had humble beginnings. It started in 1977 in an apartment building-turned-office with one employee, a home built desk and an almost antique typewriter. Today, on the 17th floor of a skyscraper overlooking the heart of downtown Edmonton, we employ 40 people, working in a high tech office on state-of-the-art computers. Our three magazines (The Elementary Safety Book for Children, Drug Facts for Young People and The Teenage Survival Handbook) are now available right across Canada (excluding Quebec) and many parts of the United States. Advertising sales, layout, copy, artwork, invoicing, preparation and distribution, in fact everything but the actual printing is done here. |

Our company is made up of dedicated, hardworking individuals with strong community skills and involvement. A quarter of our employees have been with us for 10 years or longer and half for at least 5 years. Together we form a caring team that continually strives to positively impact the lives of children. For nearly a quarter century we have been educating our youth with up-to-date information about safety, drug and alcohol abuse and showing them how to overcome the obstacles kids face as they grow up to become the adults of tomorrow. Our influence in the community is so strongly anchored that countless groups have integrated our books into their programs year after year. In the past two decades we have been nominated for the Canadian Solicitor General's Award for Crime Prevention, won the Alberta Solicitor General's Award for Crime Prevention and our president has been nominated for Chamber of Commerce Businessman of the Year. The Ontario Block Parent Association produced a video for school demonstrations taken from our safety book called "Susan and The Secret Code" and we have been given a commendation for our part in reducing crime and finding missing children from the Victims Of Violence Association. Our publications are also endorsed by the Mounted Police Foundation. Through the ongoing partnership made up of local businesses, organizations and RMCinc, children in communities across Canada and the US are ensured future free access to quality educational materials every year.
