- Check which
contest is currently running and note the deadline date that you need
to have your artwork submitted by. The deadline date is the absolute
latest your entry can arrive to qualify. Please ensure your artwork
is posted in time to arrive at our office by 4:00
that day.
- Each contest
has 5 unique pages that
need to be done to enter (a cover and 4 internal pages of our choosing).
Your cover is the most important part of your entry, so spend the most
attention to that, keeping in mind that the cover layout and our logos
cannot be altered.
- Download
the samples & templates for the contest
that is currently running so you know what you are supposed to be drawing.
In addition to the art for each page, you should design a headline style
that will complement your art and would carry through the entire publication.
- Check out
the tips page for details on what you can and
can’t do and actual dimensions of the spaces you are working with.
Check out the previous winning entries for the contest you are working
on to get an idea of the kind of looks that appeal to the judges.
- Don’t
simply redraw what has already been done before. Interpret the page
with your best idea.
- Print out
your colour entry with the best quality printer you can, on the best
quality paper you can. Put your name, address, phone number and e-mail
address on the back of each page of your
entry. Each entry will be acknowledged by e-mail only as it arrives.
Unless your entry qualifies within the top ten, this is the only correspondence
you will get from us.
- Check the
website for answers to your questions before you
call or e-mail us. Although we have no age limit to qualify, this is
not a contest for a child. Winning artists must have the maturity to
be able to follow instructions and possess the intuitiveness to able
to adapt their art to harmonize with the subject matter of the book
as well as have an understanding for the age level of the audience they
are drawing for. If you cannot find the answers you need, by all means
contact us then.
